Chief Strategy & Commercial Officer, GE Healthcare
Tom McGuinness is the Chief Strategy & Commercial Officer for GE Healthcare. He is based at GE Healthcare’s headquarters in Chicago and joined GE in his current role in August, 2016.
Tom has more than 20 years of healthcare leadership experience across all aspects of the industry, from medical technology and pharma/biotech to providers, payers, clinical research, patient engagement, and digital health. In his role at GE Healthcare, Tom is responsible for strategy, marketing, commercial, and communication functions and works with the rest of the leadership team to deliver on GE Healthcare’s mission to be the leader of outcomes-based solutions in healthcare.
Prior to joining GE, Tom was the CEO of PatientPoint, a private equity-owned healthcare technology firm focused on point-of-care physician and patient engagement with a network of more than 750 hospitals and 30,000 physician practices. Before that, Tom led Medtronic’s global Biologics business, a ~$1 billion business unit focused on musculoskeletal regenerative therapies across spine, orthopedics, and oral maxillofacial care areas. During his tenure, the business was awarded the 2008 Prix Galien Award for best biotech product in the industry as well as recognized for the Medtronic Marketing Excellence Award. Prior to that, Tom was a partner at McKinsey & Company and a leader in its Healthcare Practice based in Chicago for 13 years. At McKinsey, he was also a core leader in its Strategy & Growth Practice as well as its Marketing & Sales Practice.
He holds an MBA with distinction from Kellogg Business School, a master’s degree from Stanford University, and bachelor's degree from Northwestern University.
